As was speculated and reported here on ThinkBlueLA, Dodgers third baseman Juan Uribe will begin his rehab assignment with the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes beginning on Thursday evening.
“He’s going to play tomorrow (Thursday),” said Dodgers manager Don Mattingly on Wednesday afternoon. “He’ll DH tomorrow, I’m assuming as long as everything goes good he’ll play three in a row there. He’ll DH and and play a couple days in the field and then we’ll assess kind of where he’s at and where we’ll be after that.”
The Dodgers have Thursday off and then travel to San Diego for a weekend series with the Padres. They then travel to Kansas City to face the red hot Royals, who have won 10 straight – including a three-game sweep of division rival Detroit Tigers. That sweep moved the Royals ahead of the Tigers and into first place in the AL Central.
If all goes well, Uribe could be reactivated from the DL on Sunday in San Diego, although Monday seems more likely.
Uribe first strained his right hamstring back on May 8, for which he was not placed on the disabled list but instead sat out for five games. But on May 20, the 35-year-old Dominican Republic native re-injured the same hamstring in a game against the Mets at Citi Field.
@Think_BlueLA Great news
It will be nice to have Uribe back in the starting line-up, if and when his rehab ends.
