It’s time for Brian Wilson to come clean – again

He did it once before with the Dodgers this season and it appears that he is doing it again.

Dodgers reliever Brian Wilson withheld the fact that he felt pain in his twice surgically repaired right elbow when he pitched the 8th inning of the Dodgers U.S. opener in San Diego on March 30 – a game in which he blew the save and ended up with a 3-1 loss.

Wilson finally fessed up and was placed on the 15-day disabled list on April 1 for what was described as “elbow tenderness” – a condition that Wilson blamed on the Dodgers abbreviated spring training and Australia trip.

Wilson returned to the Dodgers 25-man roster after making two rehab appearances with the Dodgers Advanced Single-A affiliate Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in which he allowed one hit and struck out two in two total innings pitched, having faced exactly seven batters; and after which he claimed that he was now 100% healthy.

Since being reactivated from the DL on April 15 Wilson has appeared in six games, pitched four innings, allowed seven earned runs on eight hits (including a home run), walked four, hit two batters and struck out four. After allowing four runs to the Phillies in the top of the 9th inning on Thursday night in front of 51,699 at Dodger Stadium, Wilson’s ERA has exploded to an unimaginable 15.75.

In other words, Brian Wilson is not 100% healthy and he most likely hasn’t been since spring training, this after signing a one-year/$10 million deal (with a $9 million player option for 2015) during the off-season.

It’s time for Brian Wilson to do the right thing. It’s time for him to admit that he is still injured so that he can be placed back on the DL and the guy who rightfully belongs in the Dodgers bullpen can be returned there – 23-year-old left-hander Paco Rodriguez.

Nuff said.

He certainly was not “Beard-like” out there yesterday, was he?

I agree, if he’s unhealthy and he’s keeping it to himself, then he’s hurting himself both physically and with his stats and he’s of course hurting the team. If he’s healthy but is somehow just off his game Mattingly should give up and stop using him for a while. Somethings got to give here.

Well I don’t know for sure, but I guess I’m wrong on both counts, with Wilson asking for more work.
