One thing I’m wondering about is, when Kemp gets activated does that mean Van Slyke gets sent down? He’s the only outfielder with options. Come to think of it Puig probably has options left, but he would have to hit .100 and get a lot of speeding tickets before the Dodgers would send him back to the minors. I like Van Slyke’s power bat coming off the bench, but as they say it’s a numbers game.
Actually, Mike Baxter has one year of options remaining and (in my opinion) I see him going back down before Van Slyke. In addition to having more pop than Baxter, Van Slyke is also a better option to spell Adrian Gonzalez at 1B than Justin Turner.
That being said, Baxter has proven himself to be a decent pinch hitter over the last couple of seasons, but my money is still on him to go down over SVS.
