The 36-year-old Leary, GA native last appeared in the majors with the Mariners in 2012 and has a .277 career batting average with 35 home runs and 402 RBI in 11 major league seasons – eight with the Angels and three with the Mariners. He was an All-Star in 2009 and has a career .969 fielding percentage with 274 games at second base, 630 games at third base, 27 games at shortstop and 349 games in the outfield.

Figgins ended the 2012 season batting .181 with 166 at bats in 66 games and was designated for assignment by the Mariners on November 20, 2012. He did not play in 2013.

Figgins figures to compete with Dee Gordon for a spot on the Dodgers opening day roster as a utility bench player.
