Rather than write what has already been written by everybody in the northern hemisphere, I will simply show you Yasiel’s Puig’s 3 for 4 night in the Dodgers 3-1 win over the hated Giants on Monday night as seen through my camera.
First Inning
Puig hits an opposite field solo home run on a Madison Bumgarner’s low and away two-seam fastball to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead.
Sixth Inning
Bumgarner again pitches Puig low and away, this time with a four-seam fastball which Puig again takes to right field for a single.
Eighth Inning
Giants right-handed reliever George Kontos tried to come inside with a slider which Puig pulls into left field for an RBI single.
We are witnessing history, my friends.
Viva Puig!
What excitement! Every time he is involved in a play or on the base paths, you never know what is going to happen. Even rounding first base on a routine single to right is an adventure. I love that he is putting on a show for Bochy who will pick the reserves for the All-Star Game. If he has a great series, I think it will put a little pressure on him to add Puig to the team. I know many “purists” will say he doesn’t have enough time to deserve a spot, but the game should be exciting to watch and Puig always brings that element. If he keeps it up in this series, Bochy will be hard pressed to deny him a slot. If he denies him a place after performing well, Bochy will cement his place among Dodger fans.
It’s getting exciting waiting for his turn to come up to the plate and it simply amazing to watch him come through in the clutch.
Sooner or later he’s going to have to replace one of the outfielders on the active roster, not to say he’s not already on the roster, but no matter who it is that has to go, it certainly looks like it will be worth it.
Joe I’d say it’s been exciting waiting for him to come up to the plate ever since day 1
If Bochy is serious about “winning” the All Star game, he puts Puig on the roster.
According to post game interviews, Bumgarner was completely befuddled by what Puig did him him in that first at bat. The Giant pitcher said that pitch he hit out was a change up off the plate outside (following two inside pitches to back him off the plate), and that Puig completely muscled it out for a homer. He added that he pitched him according to the scouting reports and that nobody is supposed to hit that pitch out of the park, opposite field.
Larry Krueger, a highly respected writer and announcer in the Bay Area said that Puig is a talent that comes around once every 30 or 40 years, and that he is the most phenominal physical speciman playing baseball that he’d ever seen, adding that had he been raised in the U.S., he’d be a fullback preparing to be drafted no.1 in the NFL.
Word is out there. The accolades are being bandied about. If Puig stays injury free, we’ve got a Willie Mays/Roberto Clemente on our hands for years to come.
