The most insignificant blog article of the year

Why bother, right?

I mean, who even cares about a blog article on Opening Day; not just here on ThinkBlueLA, but anywhere. I hardly expect anybody to read it – certainly not if they are as amped up as I am about Opening Day.

Soon my son and I will head on down to Dodger Stadium and fight for a hunk of curb space and wait for the Dodger Stadium parking lot gates to open at 10 a.m. It will be a traffic nightmare… it always is on Opening Day. It’s all part of it and it won’t bother me in the least.

IT’S OPENING DAY!

I’ve waited for this day since October 3, 2012 – the Dodgers final game of the 2012 season. Since that day it seems as though time has stood still.

That has, by far, been the longest off-season of my life.

This has been the longest off-season of my entire life – bar none.

Since that day I:

  • had to watch the Reds implode and blow a 2 games to none lead in the NLDS to the Giants,
  • had to watch the Cardinals implode and blow a 3 games to 1 lead in the NLCS to the Giants,
  • had to watch the Tigers not even show up for the World Series and hand the title to the Giants in four games,
  • had to watch idiot Giants fans burn and loot their city in celebration,
  • enjoyed four days in Mesa, AZ watching the Dodger prospects in the Arizona Fall League,
  • had to suffer through the Winter Meetings where the Dodgers did basically nothing,
  • enjoyed the Dodgers signing Korean superstar Hyun-jin Ryu,
  • enjoyed the Dodgers signing former Cy Young Award winner Zack Greinke,
  • suffered through winter until spring training finally arrive,
  • enjoyed almost three weeks in Glendale, AZ for spring training,
  • really enjoyed watching Yasiel Puig have perhaps the best spring training by any player in MLB history,
  • suffered through this past week absolutely chomping at the bit waiting for Monday, April 1, 2013 to arrive,
  • …and must now deal with 56,000 fellow Dodger fans making their way into a beautiful renovated Dodger Stadium – and loving ever second of it!

It is time, my friends…

I hear you Ron…whew, it’s tough being a Dodgers Fan!!

Your article reminds me of a young man I saw in Chicago at a Cubs game at Wriggly Field. Decked out in his Cubs hat and jersey, he held a larger poster board that said, “I’m a Cubs Fan…and I’m not happy about it!” – I chuckle when I reflect of that memory.

Have a fantastic time this afternoon with Tim and 56000 of your closest friends…you’ve certainly endured enough. And hey, it could be worse…you could be Cubs Fan!

Your living the life Ron, wish I was there !!

      Don’t open that up Gary.

I’m willing to bet, today was one of those days you just didn’t want to leave the park hey? And when you did have to leave, you probably didn’t even hardly notice the traffic, as you reflected on the days events!

    Dodgers Tradition; it’s finally back!

And did it ever really leave? Not really…
