It’s ok to admit that the Dodgers are done. It’s ok to accept the reality that the Dodgers do not have it within themselves (pitching or offense) to make it to the post season – second Wild Card or otherwise. Hey, the Dodgers were never really expected to make the playoffs this season anyway, right?
It’s ok to realize that the Dodgers are out of the race and that the phrase “they’re still mathematically alive” is nonsense and used by those in serious denial.
It’s ok to say “the Dodgers suck,” or for you homers “we suck”.
Go ahead… say it. It will set you free… it will make you feel better. You’ll be telling the truth. It won’t be a non-truth (a lie) such as “there’s still hope” or… “we haven’t been mathematically eliminated yet” (for those aforementioned denial types).
It’s ok to acknowledge that they were right… they being the so-called baseball experts who, from Day-1 of the 2012 season, said that the Dodgers wouldn’t finish above 3rd place in the NL West… the experts who we all laughed at during the entire first half of the season when the Dodgers… the DODGERS had the best record in all of baseball. But hey, there’s a moral victory here – they said third place in the NL West and it appears that the Dodgers might… might finish in second place – but then again, the Dodgers do still have 12 games remaining and a scant 2.5 lead over the third place Diamondbacks, so they also might be right about that too.
Sure, we’re all disappointed, perhaps even disgusted with this Dodgers team; disgusted that Hanley Ramirez has yet to dive for a ball since joining the Dodgers or has become the king of “strike three looking” (although Adrian Gonzalez is running a very close second – but only if the game is on the line). But you know what? It’s ok to be disappointed. It’s ok to be disgusted because these are the Dodgers… our Dodgers – for whom the very phrase “Wait ’till next year” was written. There’s even a book about it!
When all is said and done, it’s ok to admit that the Dodgers simply do not have the heart that is found on championship teams, teams like the 2011 Cardinals or (uggh!) the 2012 Giants.
It’s ok… we’re all Dodger fans and we’re in this together. We need each other during these troubled times, just as we have always needed each other.
It’s ok… it really is.
Why is it ok?
It’s ok because it could be worse… we could be Cubs fans.

Yes, this is another tongue in cheek post.
Alyssa Milano sure is pretty, huh?
