Dodgers catching prospect Michael Pericht went a perfect 4 for 4 on Friday night as the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes routed the Lake Elsinore Storm (Padres) 8 to 3 at the Epicenter. The 24-year-old Palos Park, IL native had two home runs, a double and a single, falling only a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. He knocked in six of the Quakes eight runs and ended the night with an incredible 11 total bases.
Making his first start since returning from the DL for a strained groin, top Dodger pitching prospect Zach Lee pitched three scoreless innings for the Quakes allowing only one hit while striking out four. Lefty Jordan Roberts picked up the win with his three scoreless innings in which he allowed two hits while striking out three. It was Roberts first win of the season against no losses.
Rehabbing San Diego Padres closer Huston Street started the game for the Storm and pitched a perfect 1-2-3 inning with one strikeout.
The Quakes now trail the Cal League South Division leading High Desert Mavericks (Mariners) by only two games and begin a three-game away series against the Lancaster JetHawks (Astros) on Saturday night. The JetHawks are currently one game ahead of the Quakes in the standings so this three-game set is extremely important for the defending Cal League South champion Quakes.
