The Los Angeles Dodgers today announced the April winners of the Dodger Pride Awards.  The Dodger Pride Awards were created in 2008 by General Manager Ned Colletti and are given on a monthly basis to the players at each level of the club’s minor league system who play the game with a hustling, smart, aggressive style. The players and staff on each respective club vote for the awards. The winners for April are as follows:

Triple-A Albuquerque Isotopes

Pitcher – RHP Josh Wall went 1-0 with five saves, which tied for second in the Pacific Coast League, and a 1.74 ERA (2 ER/10.1 IP) in 10 April relief appearances. The 25-year-old limited opposing hitters to a .114 batting average (4-for-35) in the month and had a run of 10 consecutive scoreless appearances from April 8-May 1 (11.0 IP). The Louisiana native was added to the Dodgers’ 40-man roster this past off-season and tossed 3.0 scoreless innings in three appearances in his first big league Spring Training.

Player – IF Alex Castellanos ranked among the April Pacific Coast League leaders in batting average (.366, 9^th), extra-base hits (15, T-2^nd), triples (4, T-2^nd), home runs (4, T-8^th), on-base percentage (.477, T-2^nd) and slugging percentage (.746, 1^st) in 18 games. Castellanos was honored as the league’s Player of the Week for the period of April 16-22, batting .440 (11-for-25) with nine runs scored, a double, two triples, four homers and nine RBI in six games, and by Baseball America as a Triple-A classification All-Star for the month of April. The 25-year-old was acquired from St. Louis last season in exchange for Rafael Furcal and was selected as a 2011 Topps Double-A All-Star after batting .320 with 23 home runs and 84 RBI in 125 combined games.

Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts

Pitcher – RHP Shawn Tolleson allowed just one run in eight April appearances (0.90 ERA) and limited opposing hitters to a .176 batting average (6-for-34) with 18 strikeouts in 10.0 innings. The 24-year-old is tied for sixth in the Southern League with four saves in as many opportunities and overall has posted a 0.84 WHIP in nine appearances. Tolleson, who was selected as the Dodgers’ 2011 Branch Rickey Minor League Pitcher of the Year, is in only his third professional season after being selected in the 30^th round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Baylor University.

Player – C/1B J.T. Wise ranked among the April Southern League leaders in batting average (.312, 11^th), doubles (7, T-8^th), on-base percentage (.411, 9^th) and RBI (14, T-10^th) in 22 games. Overall, the 26-year-old is batting .417 (10-for-24) with runners in scoring position and hitting .385 (15-for-39) with runners on base. Wise, the Dodgers’ fifth-round selection in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft,  is in his first season at the Double-A level after setting career highs with 17 homers and 73 RBI last year with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Single-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes

Pitcher – RHP Logan Bawcom has allowed just three hits and struck out 17 in 11.0 scoreless innings in nine appearances this season. The 23-year-old has gone 1-0 with five saves in six opportunities and is limiting opponents to a .083 batting average (3-for-36). Bawcom, the Dodgers’ 17^th-round selection in the 2010 draft, led the club’s minor leaguers with 27 combined saves with Rancho Cucamonga and Single-A Great Lakes last season.

Player – IF Austin Gallagher cracked the California League’s April top 10 in home runs (4, T-8^th) and RBI (15, T-9^th), and overall is batting .257 in 27 games. Gallagher has been clutch late in games this season, posting a .353 batting average (12-for-34) with three homers and six RBI from the seventh inning and later. The 23-year-old is in his sixth professional season after being selected in the third round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft and batted .292 with a career-high 13 home runs and 62 RBI in 111 games with the Quakes last season.

Single-A Great Lakes Loons

Pitcher – RHP Jose Dominguez went 1-1 with two saves and a 1.83 ERA (4 ER/19.2 IP) in six April appearances to win the Dodger Pride Award. The 21-year-old, who has made five relief appearances of 3.0 or more innings, has 23 strikeouts in 19.2 innings this season and has limited opposing hitters to a .130 batting average (4-for-69), including a .048 mark against right-handers (2-for-42). Dominguez is in his fifth year in the Dodger organization after signing with the club as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2007 out of the Dominican Republic.

Player – IF Jesus Arredondo has hit safely in 10 of his last 11 games to raise his overall batting average to .330 through 22 games. The 21-year-old leads the Loons in batting average, hits (29), on-base percentage (.388) and slugging percentage (.455) and also ranks among the team leaders in steals (6, 2^nd) and doubles (7, 3^rd). Arredondo is in his first year in the organization after signing as a non-drafted free agent this past off-season out of Mexico.
