On behalf of ThinkBlueLA.com, we welcome you and thank you for dropping in. Although ThinkBlueLA.com is new to the blogging world, we have actually been around for several years. ThinkBlueLA.com was born during the exciting 2009 season as a fan-based interactive Dodger forum with members from sea to shining sea. We have members from the birthplace of the Dodgers (Brooklyn, New York) as well as members from Florida, Ohio, Idaho, Arizona, Nevada and, of course, many from California (some from behind enemy lines in the Bay Area). We even have several members from Nova Scotia and British Columbia, Canada.
ThinkBlueLA.com is the brainchild of Scott Harvey and me (Ron Cervenka), known around Dodger Stadium as “Fan Since 53.” Scott is a relatively new Dodger fan but he is not lacking in his passion for the Dodgers – not by any means. Scott is an I.T. supervisor for the County of Los Angeles and is definitely the brains behind ThinkBlueLA.com. Scott hails from Northridge, California and can be frequently seen around Dodger Stadium with his lovely wife Yvette and their T-Ball superstar daughter Lexy. In addition to his passion for the Dodgers, Scott is also a professional photographer and an avid tournament bass angler.
As for me, I was born and raised in Burbank, California and was blessed to have had a father who was a huge baseball fan (albeit a Cubs fan). My earliest memories of my beloved Dodgers are those of spending warm summer afternoons at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum watching the newly arrived Boys of Summer from Brooklyn. My fondest childhood memories, however, are those of spending countless hours in the Left Field Pavilion watching my heroes Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Tommy and Willie Davis, and Maury Wills bring championships to Los Angeles in 1963 and 1965. I attended game-3 of the 1963 World Series with my father and brothers and vividly recall the jubilation of sweeping the overpowered (and overrated) Yankees. I recently retired as a detective from the Burbank Police Department after 30 years of service and I am blessed to have a wonderful daughter (Christina) and son (Tim) who are, of course, huge Dodger fans. Christina currently lives in Brooklyn, New York pursuing a career in theater arts. She is frequently seen wearing her Dodgers garb around the City and has no problem sharing her opinion of the Yankees when being heckled by Yankees fans. Tim is a soon-to- be graduate of Valencia High School and he and I were blessed to have been featured in the DVD movie “Bluetopia – The Dodger Movie” which chronicles the Dodgers’ incredible 2008 season. In addition to being a life-long Dodger fan, I am also a longtime Dodgers season ticket holder and can be found at (nearly) every Dodger home game out in the Left Field Pavilion.
As the Dodgers prepare to embark on their historic 2012 season, we as Dodger fans are riding on an enormous wave of change; one of epic proportion. We are entering the season with a new ownership group that has already captivated the city of Los Angeles; one with exuberant confidence and optimism for a great future. As we ride this wave of change, it is our goal at ThinkBlueLA.com to share with you a fresh new perspective of the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Dodger organization as seen through the eyes of their loyal fans. In addition to offering stories and interviews from within the Dodger organization (Major League and Minor League), we plan to offer stories and interviews from the very heart and soul of the Dodgers – their fans. We will also provide an arena where fans can share their own Dodger experiences and photographs, in addition to sharing their thoughts and opinions to the articles posted by our ThinkBlueLA.com staff. We will also feature the latest zany YouTube videos from Bobby “dodgerfilms” Crosby along with some of our own videos clips. Additionally, we will provide direct links to some of your other favorite Dodger websites and blog sites. Our ultimate goal is to provide you with a new and exciting Dodger blog site that we hope you will add to your list of daily ‘must read’ sites.
We encourage you to submit your comments, opinions, ideas, photos, and constructive criticisms to help ThinkBlueLA.com grow right along with the revitalized Dodger organization. We also encourage you to register for and participate in our original long-running interactive ThinkBlueLA.com forums, which are accessible with a simple click of the ‘Forum’ tab above.
Thank you for your time and let the good times roll!
