Dodgers Dream Foundation & LA84 Foundation Dedicate 23rd Dreamfield at Lennox Park

The Dodgers Dream Foundation, in partnership with the LA84 Foundation and the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation, unveiled a new Dodgers Dreamfield today at Lennox Park in Los Angeles. Those on hand for the dedication ceremony included Senior Vice President, Los Angeles Dodgers Howard Sunkin, Los Angeles County Supervisor, Second District Mark Ridley-Thomas, President, LA84 Foundation Anita L. DeFrantz and Director, County of Los Angeles, Department of Parks and Recreation Russ Guiney. PRIME TICKET Spanish-language broadcaster Jorge Jarrín hosted the event.

Dodger alumni Kenny Landreaux, Wes Parker, Derrel Thomas and Fernando Valenzuela were in attendance and also led a clinic on the new field following the dedication for youngsters from Moffett Elementary, Huerta Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Bufford Elementary and Lennox Middle School.

“The Dodgers are off to a great start on the field and we’re thrilled to bring another Dodgers Dreamfield to the community,” Sunkin said. “We hope that the children present today enjoyed learning from Dodger alumni, can take pride in their new Dodgers Dreamfield and share it with their family and friends.”

“We are honored to be a part of this partnership with the Los Angeles Dodgers that will enable hundreds of children to have a quality sports experience and foster a lifetime of healthy living practices while having fun at a County of Los Angeles Park,” Guiney said. “We are so pleased to receive this second Dreamfield working with the Dodgers Dream Foundation and look forward to similar projects in the future.”

“We are thrilled to partner with the Dodgers Dream Foundation and LA84 to bring state of the art recreational amenities to Lennox and Athens Parks,” Ridley-Thomas said. “These dream fields create inspiring platforms for youth to learn about teamwork and develop a healthy lifestyle, values we know will last a lifetime.”

“The LA84 Foundation is pleased to have partnered with the Dodgers Dream Foundation and the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation to create a Dreamfield at Lennox Park.  We believe every youngster who wishes to participate in a sport should have the opportunity to do so in the best facilities available.   Youngsters who play baseball at Lennox Park now have the perfect field in which to practice and perfect their baseball skills,” said DeFrantz. “It took teamwork to build this field and we know that youngsters who play on it will also learn how teamwork in and outside the field of play creates success.”

Field improvements at Lennox Park’s Dodgers Dreamfield include a refurbished chain ink backstop, new dugout roofs, a refurbished irrigation system, regrading in the outfield for proper drainage, new infield mix, new sod in the outfield, a new solar-powered scoreboard and new field signage.
