ThinkBlueLA has learned from a reliable source that 21-year-old left-hander Caleb Ferguson has been called up to the Dodgers, presumably to start (or ‘Romo-start’) Wednesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.
The 6′-3″ / 215-pound Columbus, Ohio native and Dodgers 2014 38th-round draft pick out of West Jefferson High School in West Jefferson, Ohio posted a 3-0 record and 1.38 ERA in his eight starts with the Dodgers Double-A affiliate Tulsa Drillers this season, which earned him a promotion to Triple-A Oklahoma City on May 26.
In his two starts with the OKC Dodgers, Ferguson is 0-0 with a 2.25 earned run average over 8.0 innings pitched. In those eight innings, the hard-throwing left-hander struck out 12 and walked seven, while holding opposing hitters to a minuscule .194 batting average.
Although there has been no official word of the Ferguson call-up from the Dodgers yet, there’s this from Caleb’s mom:
About as reliable as it gets.
